AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Bring Endings and New Beginnings to the MCU

Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel will be a culmination of everything that has happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it was first launched with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man. According to the Russo Bros. these two upcoming Avengers films will mark a new beginning for the MCU, which I think a lot of us fans are expecting. Anthony Russo talked about it in an interview with IGN, saying:

"I can't get into too much detail about who we're introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie. In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they're going to be the beginning of certain things."

They didn’t reveal what any of these “certain things” will be, but we know that there are going to be a ton of characters in the film, old and new. Vin Diesel just confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy team will definitely be a part of the story. Russo went on to discuss the process of “nailing down which characters to actually choose for the films and whether personal preference or story demands rules for those decisions.” He said:

"It's a little bit of both, because you always have to make sure that your choices feel organic to the storytelling, and really, you have to sort of structure them in the way that they need to be there. You have to have them, or they shouldn't be in the movie. It's a little bit of a dance between the two, where you have big eyes, and you want everybody included in the movie, but you have to go through the process of... what's the best story that you can tell."

There are a lot of filmmakers that don’t have an understanding of that basic concept of doing what is best for the story. We’ve seen lots of filmmakers out there sacrifice story for an overload of pointless characters and visual effects. The Russo Bros. know how to tell a great story, and they’ve proved it with the two Captain America films they’ve made.

Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel aren’t being released until 2018 and 2019, so we’ve got a long way to go before we actually start finding out any kind of story details, but I can’t wait to see what Marvel is cookin’!
