Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto Sign on for STAR TREK 4

As the third installment of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek film series starts production, THR reports that both Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto have signed on for Star Trek 4. I guess this confirms a fourth film! I guess it's not really that surprising as these films have been doing very well financially, and for the most part audiences seem to be enjoying them.

The report explains that after a long dance between the studio and actors regarding pay raises,  "Paramount and producer-financier Skydance Entertainment recently completed last-minute re-negotiations with the Star Trek stars, a move that has added as much as $10 million-$15 million to the budget. The project’s slow development process may have been partly to blame, as well as the rising star power of the actors, especially Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana."

To give you an idea of the kind of money we're talking about, apparently Pine went from making $600,000 from the first film, to $3 million for the third. I imagine he'll be making even more money for the fourth installment.

Star Trek Beyond is currently shooting in Vancouver with Justin Lin of the Fast and Furious franchise directing. He will be directing from a script written by Simon Pegg and Dark Blue co-creator Doug Jung. The movie will be released in theaters on July 8th, 2016. This next chapter of the story takes the Enterprise crew into their five year mission in deep space, and I can't wait to see what new adventures lie in store for them.
