CONJURING 2 Writer Hired to Work on AQUAMAN

Warner Bros. has hired David Leslie Johnson to help director James Wan complete the script for Aquaman. Johnson’s track record doesn’t spark much confidence as he is the same guy who wrote Wrath of the Titans and Red Riding Hood, both of which sucked ass. However, he did work with Wan on The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, so that might be a plus.

The news comes from THR, who explains that the studio had two separate scripts for the film being developed simultaneously. Those scripts were being worked on by Will Beall (Gangster Squad, The Legend of Conan) and Kurt Johnstad (300, Act of Valor).

The report goes on to say, “What is unclear is the extent of Johnson’s involvement… One source said that Johnson would be a third rail on the development track however several sources said Johnson is working with Wan to streamline the project. Warners had no comment.”

I’m excited that James Wan is going to direct it, but with these screenwriters working on the script I fear for the story, dialogue, and character development. Hopefully, the Aquaman script isn’t as mediocre as these writers' previous work.

Jason Momoa attached to star in the movie, which will be released in 2018.
