Cool GAME OF THRONES VFX Reel Shows How The Battle of Hardhome Was Made

I think Game of Thrones dropped the ball in a pretty significant way this past season, but the best episode of the year (and maybe even one of the best of the series) came in the form of "Hardhome," which contained a massive battle sequence between Jon Snow and the Wildlings and the Night King and his White Walker and wight army of undead souls. I already wrote a little about how HBO and the showrunners pulled off that scene, but now we have a much more in-depth look at the visual effects from VFX company El Ranchito that went into making it look as great as it did.

The fate of one of the show's major characters is in question after the events of the season finale, and perhaps someone at this year's Comic-Con panel will be able to provide a definitive answer, but until then, this video is a good way to look back on one of the coolest episodes of television this year and remember that even after all of these years, Game of Thrones can still surprise us.
