Danny Boyle is Up For Directing 28 MONTHS LATER

28 Months Later has been talked about for years. The last bit of information we got came from screenwriter Alex Garland. This last summer, he said that development of the film was moving forward. Throughout all of this talk, 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle has been saying that he would executive produce the project, but that he wouldn't direct it. Now it looks like he may have changed his mind. During an interview with The Playlist, the director is asked about the zombie sequel and this is what he said:

“I've got no problem [with directing]. It’s the usual thing: it's not about whether people think it's a good idea that you're directing. It’s whether you respond to the script or not. It’s just like on [‘Steve Jobs’]. I got the script and I went, 'That was amazing. I hope I can add to that somehow and make it be even better than just the experience of reading it.'"

It would be awesome if Boyle actually did step into the role of the director. He really did an awesome job with that first film, and it really injected some new life into the zombie genre. With Boyle showing interest in coming back as a director, it actually could propel this movie into production.

Boyle just finished directing Steve Jobs, and his next movie will be Trainspotting 2. Hopefully, he gets around to directing 28 Months Later within the next couple of years.
