Ewan McGregor to Play Lumiere in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

The cast of Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast continues to grow.

According to THR, Ewan McGregor has joined the cast as Lumiere, the candelabra maitre d’ who belts out the showstopping tune "Be Our Guest" in one of the animated movie's most memorable moments. Director Bill Condon (familiar with musicals from his work on Dreamgirls) is incorporating songs into this live-action version as well, and we know from Moulin Rouge! that McGregor has a nice set of pipes himself, so he should fit in very well.

He joins an already-impressive cast of Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as The Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, and Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth. It should be fun to see McGregor and McKellen share the screen together, since they're responsible for bringing some of the most iconic characters in film history to life in Obi-Wan Kenobi and Gandalf the Grey (just to name a few).

Production starts next month, and with a cast like this, we're all expecting great things from this take on Beauty and the Beast.
