IGN was able to interview writer/director Paul Feig about the development of the Ghostbusters reboot coming in 2016 that stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. Feig said of the recent announcement of a Ghostbusters cineverse:

"That has nothing to do with us. That was a real surprise when that announcement came out… We're just doing our thing and I can't let that affect me. I don't know how real it is."

Wow! I think Feig knows that if his film isn't successful that a cineverse is not even possible. I hope that forcing one to happen doesn't result in a lesser film. Feig talks about who brings the team together and who "leads:"

"It's an ensemble, but at the same time you need the one person that brings you into the group [who is Wiig's character],
"Melissa is sort of the leader of the group, but everybody will be equal. I just love a deep bench like this. Every one of those women is strong and so funny. The hardest thing is going to be… keeping all of their stuff in the movie."

The original Ghostbusters had a pretty balanced dynamic in the team, so it will be interesting to see how this new one works. In the full video interview Feig talks about using test audiences to help shape his films' final edit and writing the script.
