Blue Ruin was shown earlier this year at Sundance, and there was a lot of positive buzz surrounding it. It heard nothing but good things. I really wanted to see it, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get into a screening for it, so I'll just have to wait for another opportunity.
The film was written and directed by cinematographer turned directorJeremy Saulnier, and it stars Macon Blair as Dwight Evans, "a mysterious outsider whose quiet life on the margins is turned upside down when he returns to his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Proving himself an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family."
Blue Ruin looks like a seriously intense movie, and it will be released in theaters and VOD on April 25th.
