Greg Grunberg Will Reprise His Role in HEROES REBORN

Greg Grunberg is set to reprise his role as the telepathic detective Matt Parkman in the upcoming limited series, Heroes Reborn. The news comes from Entertainment Weekly, who reports that he will have a guest-starring arc on the show. Other cast members of the original series who are coming back include Jack Coleman as H.R.G., Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian, and Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura.

The new series follows a "seemingly ordinary group of people who gradually become aware that they have special abilities." According to the plot description, the story develops "showing their reactions to these powers, and how this discovery affects their personal and professional lives."

Before Grunberg was cast in the show, he said he was interested in being a part of it:

“Well, you know, it’d be great to use that cop character as an investigative tool to find new people with power. I’m excited as a fan, to see what happens. If I can be a part of this, I would jump at the chance…None of us have been notified. We have no idea what’s going on. They hinted that they might use some of the old characters to move story and plot. I think the fans or whoever was watching the show before, which was the world, really wants closure. I don’t know how they would do this without using some of the main characters. I hope that they include me.”

And, they did! Heroes creator Tim Kring wrote and executive produced the new series, which also stars Zachary Levi (Chuck) along with Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door), Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time), Danika Yarosh (Shameless), Judith Shekoni (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Kiki Sukezane (Death Yankee 3), Henry Zebrowski (A to Z), and Gatlin Green (Criminal Minds).

It's going to be fun to see some of these hero characters back together again. Maybe Kring can recapture that magic that we liked so much about the first season of Heroes.
