Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, and More Eye Bong Joon-ho's Monster Movie OKJA

Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho has made his mark with movies like The Host, Memories of Murder, and Snowpiercer, and now he's prepping his follow-up to the latter and has some pretty spectacular talent lined up for it. The new film is called Okja, and though not much is known about it yet, the story is said to follow a Korean female lead and a bunch of English-language supporting actors, whose scenes will be shot in New York. Tilda Swinton recently confirmed that she'd be reuniting with her Snowpiercer director for this one, and now The Wrap has a list of some more great actors that are eying the project.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Kelly Macdonald, and Bill Nighy are all close to signing on, though no deals have officially been made yet. If all of them end up coming on board, this would certainly rival the cast of Snowpiercer, which included Chris Evans, John Hurt, Ed Harris, Alison Pill, and Octavia Spencer. (It would also be a reunion for Gyllenhaal and Dano, both of whom starred in Denis Villeneuve's Prisoners a couple of years ago.) Joon-ho is about as far from a hack director as you can get: he's a guy who clearly has a vision in mind for his films, and has proven capable of success across multiple genres. I look forward to hearing more about Okja as it moves closer to production.
