Jake Gyllenhaal Tears His Life Apart in New DEMOLITION Trailer

Fox Searchlight has just released a new poster and trailer for Demolition, the latest film from Wild and Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallee. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a man who suffers a tragic loss and ends up tearing apart the remnants of his life in order to cope, and he meets a customer service employee who helps him begin to move on with his life.

I want to like this movie because I like a lot of the work Gyllenhaal has done over the past few years, but this trailer doesn't inspire very much faith in me. Naomi Watts' character appears to exist only to help JG through his crisis (at least with what we see here), and her kid looks like one of those typically annoying kid movie characters who helps teach him a valuable lesson. Like, that Hook moment where he forces Gyllenhaal to smile? What is that? Also, that poster? Yikes. I don't know, maybe I'm just in a cynical mood. What do you all think?

Demolition hits theaters on April 8th.

Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal), a successful investment banker, struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father in law Phil (Chris Cooper) to pull it together, Davis continues to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions.
