J.J. Abrams Says Cloverfield Monster Is NOT in 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE

You know, I should be surprised by that headline, but I'm not. It sounds just like Lost all over again! Except THIS time we are looking for the Cloverfield monster, not the smoke monster. Anyway, Fandango says we are not going to see the Cloverfield monster in the sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane. Abrams has a reason, whether or not you like it is up to you...

“This movie is very purposefully not called Cloverfield 2, because it’s not Cloverfield 2,” Abrams says, adding that “the association is clear and there are multiple connections – and there is a bigger idea at play for us with these movies and this connection...And the fun of it is that some of these connections – and there’s a lot of them – are not the kind of connections you might think. So if you’re approaching it as a literal sequel, you’ll be surprised to see what this movie is. But while it’s not what you might expect from a movie that has the name 'Cloverfield' in it, I think you’ll find that you’ll understand the connection when you see the whole thing."

Let me just go ahead and be the first to say NO. I mean, it is what it is. You already made the movie, you had the vision, and now we are subjecting ourselves to it. Why does every damn thing have to be a mystery? Why? WHYYYYY?!

I'm in no way holding it against anyone who is not upset with this news, I just need to speak my piece. Why can't Cloverfield just be an American-based kaiju film? That's all I wanted. I didn't sign on for a mystery thriller.
