J.J. Abrams Thinks Mark Hamill Should Win an Oscar for His Work in THE LAST JEDI

Director J.J. Abrams thinks very highly of Mark Hamill's performance as Luke Skywalker in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He thinks his performance is so good that he should win an Oscar.

While talking to NY Daily News at the Oscar Wilde Awards in L.A., the filmmaker said:

"I think we are all going to be very upset if he does not win an Oscar, and no one more upset than Mark."

We have yet to see Hamill fully back in the role of Skywalker, but this statement definitely has me excited to see what Hamill's performance will be like. Could you imagine if Hamill did win an Oscar? That would be incredibly cool!

Having not seen the film, I have no idea if that really is a possibility, but I do trust Abrams' opinion on these kinds of things. He seems to have any eye for it. Of course, there's always the chance he might be joking around, but I don't think he'd joke around with a statement like that.

Abrams' comments also seem to indicate that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be Luke's movie, much in the same way that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was Han Solo's movie. I just hope he doesn't die at the end!

What do you think about Abrams' comments about Hamill winning an Oscar?
