J.K. Rowling Says HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Is Harry Potter's Final Story

As a Harry Potter fan it was awesome to learn that there was going to be one more Harry Potter adventure told with the two-part play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I imagine that play will one day be adapted into a film, but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

As cool as it is to see a new Harry Potter story, it also comes with some sad news. According to author J.K. Rowling, this is the last Harry Potter story. After this, she is done with the character.

While talking at the premiere of  Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre, Rowling told the press that Harry’s story has been brought a close. This story will pave the way for new stories following new characters. She says:

“[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and, then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

I don't think this will be the last time we see Harry Potter. I'm sure he'll still show up in future stories but in a smaller role. This is mostly likely just the last one that will focus on him as a main character.

The script for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released last night, so it you want to know what happens in the story, go pick up yourself a copy! The story is set 19 years after the events of the Deathly Hallows, and it follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as well as Harry's son, Albus Severus Potter, and also introduces several new characters. Here's the synopsis:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

What do you all think about this being Harry Potter's final big story?
