J.K. Rowling Writes New HARRY POTTER Story

It's been seven long years since J.K. Rowling wrote the final book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Well, fans will be happy to hear that the wizard is back in an all new story, and he's all grown up.

The story was posted on Pottermore this morning, where it can be read in its entirety. It centers on a 34-year-old Harry Potter, and it takes place in the Patagonian Desert for the Quidditch World Cup. You'll also be happy to hear that Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Luna are all there in attendance with him! It also includes The Daily Prophet‘s Rita Skeeter, who continues to give commentary on the group of friends. The story is actually written up as a gossip column by Skeeter. She spots Potter and his pals in the VIP section of the Quidditch match, and she obviously still doesn't care for them. But, her article does offer some updates on the characters that you might be interested in reading.

The story "offers a snapshot of the current lives of the former Hogwarts friends, as well as a tantalizing glimpse into the next generation." I've included a little information from the story on a few characters mentioned below.

The article describes Potter as having "threads of silver" in his black hair, and he also has a mysterious cut over his cheekbone. Skeeter speculates that the cut has been inflicted on him as part of his career as an Auror, or a wizard trained to apprehend dark wizards.

Ron's ginger hair "appears to be thinning slightly,” and he has left his job as an Auror after two years to help George manage Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

Hermione is now the Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and will of course rise even higher in her career.  She's still married to Ron.

Luna doesn't seem to have changed much and is described as being "delightfully eccentric.” She has married Rolf Scamander, described as the “swarthy” grandson of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander. Oh! And they have twin sons.

As for Neville Longbottom, he lives above the Leaky Cauldron in London, and is married to Hannah Abbott. He’s fittingly an Herbology professor at Hogwarts. His wife has had Healer training and is trying to get the Matron job at Hogwarts.

To find out more just read the story! It was actually kind of cool revisiting these characters again, and seeing where they are in their lives.
