John Krasinski Cast in Michael Bay's Benghazi Film 13 HOURS

Michael Bay is prepping to move forward with his next film project called 13 Hours, and John Kraskinski is in talks to star in it. The project is based on the true story of the attack on the U.S. Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA Annex in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11th, 2012.

Krasinski will play a Navy SEAL in the movie, and it will be one of the lead roles in the war thriller. Variety reports that Woody Harrelson, J.K. Simmons, Walton Goggins, and Shea Whigham have also read for certain roles in the film. Apparently Krasinski’s audition blew Bay away. It will be interesting to see him in such a badass role. A movie like this could change his career and take it to the next level.

The script was written by Chuck Hogan (The Strain), and it focuses on six members of a security team that valiantly fought to defend the many Americans stationed on the compound. They only partially succeeded because U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was killed along with a foreign service worker in one attack. Then, during a second assault at a CIA station nearby, two contract workers were killed.

I think this will be a great project for Bay. I like it when he’s not making Transformers movies. Krasinski will next be seen in Cameron Crowe’s new film, which still doesn’t have a title. Can you imagine Krasinski as a Navy Seal?
