Joss Whedon Fought For Marvel to Make a DAREDEVIL Movie

Joss Whedon has yet to see Marvel's Daredevil Netflix series, but before that was made, he was fighting for Marvel to make a movie instead. While talking to IGN, the director admitted:

“I fought for Daredevil to be a film instead of a TV show. Then under the auspices of Drew Goddard and Steve DeKnight… I’m dying to see the show but they released it just as I started the press tour!"

I'm really curious to see what he thinks of it when he finally gets around to watching it. I loved the series, and a lot of other fans seemed to enjoy it as well. Whedon has heard the buzz and he said:

“If the show’s working, the show’s working. Comic books are serialised entertainment and a lot of them lend themselves to TV shows as much or more than they do to movies."

The filmmaker goes on to to discuss why he likes the character of Daredevil, and why he thought it would work better as a movie:

“I like him because he’s basically Marvel’s Batman, thanks to Frank Miller basically. So for me I didn’t think they’d be able to sustain that sort of mood on TV but TV has changed so much. It’s come up so much that I think it might just be the right place.”

I think the series did an awesome job sustaining that mood, and I'm sure they'll be able to carry it on through its second season. I think TV is the perfect medium for Daredevil, but I do hope that one day he does make it back into the feature films. There's a chance that could happen if the rumors turn out to be true.
