Joss Whedon on Black Widow and James Spader on Ultron in AVENGERS 2

There have been a few separate interviews in which Joss Whedon talks about Black Widow and Hawkeye, and James Spader discusses his villainous Ultron character.

Black Widow may not have any superpowers, but she's a kick-ass character in the Marvel universe. One of my favorites! Mostly because Scarlett Johansson is perfect in the part, and she looks freakin' beautiful. But that's just me... and a ton of other fanboys out there. Seriously though, I do enjoy the Black Widow character, and in a recent interview with Whedon, he talks about Avengers: Age of Ultron and reveals that the character is going to have a big part to play in it. Here's what he had to say when talking with Nerd HQ,

"Natasha is a huge part of the sequel because you do want to concentrate on the people who don't have their own franchises. Although she in 'Cap 2,' [and] she's great. She was the most fun for me because she's not a hero, you know, and it's something that I read—and I feel bad that I can't remember who wrote the book—but it's in one of the books explaining, 'These guys are heroes, you are a spy. It's a different thing—it's a different skill set—and you don't have their moral high ground or any of that good stuff.' And that just makes her so interesting to me. So yeah, the stuff I've got going on with her in the second one is killer."

In a separate interview via ScreenRant, Whedon also pointed out that he has bigger plans for Hawkeye in the sequel. A lot of fans thought that Hawkeye was kind of a throwaway character. I know I didn't really care for him; he is my least favorite Avenger. Renner himself admitted that he wasn't even happy with the way the character was portrayed in the film. This time around though it sounds like Whedon will have some fun with him.

“It’s very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it’s nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.”

It will be fun to see these two characters utilized more as Avengers. I'm hoping one day Black Widow ends up getting her own movie. I think it would be awesome! Spader then did an interview with The Inquirer, in which he talked about his role in the film as Ultron, saying,

"I have spoken to Joss Whedon about it, And yes, actually, just this weekend I went in for them to take very extensive photographs, head scans, body scans, and all kinds of things in preparation for figuring out how the hell I'm gonna fit in this Ultron character!
"I think it'll be a lot of fun and it's incredibly nostalgic for me. When I was a kid my best friend had trunks of comics and I didn't have any so I used to love going for sleepovers at his house. Also I have three sons and two of them have a great interest in comics so they're excited I'm playing the role."

Spader is going to be so awesome as the villain, and I'm excited to see what the design of the character is going to look like.

Then, in Interview Magazine, Johansson was interviewed by director Darren Aronofsky, and he asked about the movie as well and she gave this little update,

"We'll be shooting that in January. I think we're taking it to the streets this time, I think we're going overseas."

And that's it! Everyone is talking about it, they're all excited, and it's going to be another amazing movie going experience! Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out on May 1st, 2015!
