Fast and Furious franchise director Justin Lin is set to direct a period film set in New York City called Times Square. The film is set up at Focus Features who acquired the Black List script that was written by Taylor Materne and Jacob Rubin.

The film is a crime thriller that is "set in the last days of the old Times Square, when it was transitioning from a seedy lawless Midtown Manhattan dump to a family-friendly corporate mecca."

In that backdrop, when a secret from his past is unearthed, a young man’s loyalties are divided between his neighborhood boss who raised him and the grizzled ex-cop who swore to protect him.

I love New York City and this is a really interesting setting for a film. It will be fun to how it turns out both with the story and visually.

Lin is also set to direct the next installment of the Bourne franchise with Jeremy Renner. He’s also attached to direct L.A. Riots, which is a movie scripted by 12 Years A Slave writer John Ridley
