Keanu Reeves and Roland Emmerich Team Up For NEW ANGELES Series

Keanu Reeves has teamed up with director Roland Emmerich to develop and produce a new TV series called New Angeles. They've hired Gregg Hurwitz, a New York Times bestselling author, to write the project. He's also written stories for Marvel and DC.

The show will be set in the future, and the story is "based around a young man who escapes the mundane reality of his life by entering an exciting virtual reality world called New Angeles. Once down the rabbit hole, he adopts a new identity, becoming the man he was always destined to be, and in the process, unlocking the keys to a mystery that has real world consequences for him and his family."

There's definitely similar plot elements in the story that we've seen in other movies, like Reeves' own film The Matrix, but I think it has the potential to be a good series.

Emmerich will direct the pilot episode and remain involved in the series as an executive producer. The Independence Day director is currently in post-production on a film called Stonewall, which is about the historic riots that took place on the streets of New York City in 1969.

Reeves on the other hand will be a producer on the series. He just wrapped production on an action movie called John Wick with Willem Dafoe, which is where the photo above comes from. He also just finished shooting The Whole Truth with Rene Zellweger
