Mark Millar's NEMESIS Goes into Development at Warner Bros.
It looks like Mark Millar's villainous comic book Nemesis is finally going to get made. The project was previously set up at 20th Century Fox with Tony Scott set to direct before he passed away. After that, Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces, The A-Team) came on board to take it on. The movie seems to have been in development hell at Fox, but it looks like that's all about to change, and the project is ready to move forward. According to The Tracking Board, the film project has now landed at Warner Bros. and Ridley Scott's production company Scott Free will be producing it.
The most recent draft of the script was written by Carnahan and his brother Matthew Michael Carnahan. Joe Carnahan is still attached to direct the movie, which is great! As soon as he jumped in on the production at Fox, I knew he was the right fit to bring this crazy story to life.
The story follows the story follows Matt Anderson, a billionaire super-villain who is bent on avenging his criminal father by killing Washington DC Chief Inspector Blake Marrow. It's a twisted violent tale that shows us what the world would be like with a villainous Bruce Wayne/Batman character. This is the description from the comic:

Miller previously called the script "relentless and powerful" you can read his full thoughts on it here. Carnahan teased the opening scene in the film saying, "This opening is either going to galvanize the audience or have them fleeing the theater in droves..."
This is a great story that I think has the potential to be a spectacular movie. Now that it's out of the hands of Fox, it looks like there's a good chance for that to happen.
