Michael Chernus Set to Play The Tinkerer in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Marvel and director Jon Watts have cast Michael Chernus in the role of Phineas Mason a.k.a The Tinkerer in Spider-Man: Homecoming. You might recognize Chernus from projects such as Captain Phillips, Aloha, The Bourne Legacy, and Orange Is the New Black.

The Tinkerer is the second of two villains that we know of in the story, and Chernus will star opposite Michael Keaton who is also a villain. Before Chernus was cast in the film, there was a chance that Keaton might actually being playing The Tinkerer because it hasn’t been officially confirmed by the studio who Keaton is playing. We just knew he was going to be a villain, but with Chernus as the Tinkerer, it almost guarantees that Keaton is playing The Vulture, which is what many of us suspected and were hoping for.

There’s still so much we don’t know about this movie, but I can’t wait to see what Watts and Marvel are going to give us. I absolutely loved the footage of the film that was screened at Comic-Con last month. It was so much more entertaining than I was expecting. It actually looks like it could be a John Hughes-directed Spider-Man movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to be released on July 7th, 2017. Make sure to get caught up on all of the Spider-Man: Homecoming news that we’ve reported on here. There’s a good amount of it!
