Michael Fassbender Strikes Iconic Pose in New ASSASSIN'S CREED Movie Poster

On the heels of a trailer for the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie, 20th Century Fox has unveiled a new official poster for the film featuring Michael Fassbender striking an iconic pose as the character Callum Lynch.

Fassbender is teaming up with Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) again to bring one of the most popular game series to the big screen. Also joining the line-up are Jeremy Irons (The Man in The Iron Mask, Batman v Superman), Marion Cotillard (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), and Michael K. Williams (12 Years a Slave, The Wire).

While based on the game series, the director has announced some surprising aspects of the film: There will be no characters from the previous games, it will be its own installment with little nods to past installments; and roughly only 35% of the movie will take place in the past. The latter is an astonishing reversal of the tried and true Assassin’s Creed formula, with the majority of the games taking place in the past.

Set in the near-future and the Spanish inquisition, we see Fassbender take on the role of Callum Lynch in the efforts to change the past and take down the Knights Templar. Callum’s ancestor in the Spanish Inquisition is Aguilar, who Lynch must control in order to maintain order in the past.

I am excited for this movie and I have hope this could be the first great video game adaptation! If you haven’t, go check out Macbeth by the same director, which also stars Fassbender and Cotillard. It was a great film and filled me with hope for a movie I wasn’t originally excited for. I included that trailer for you to watch below. What do you guys think of the poster, and the trailer for the film?
