Michael Giacchino To Score Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE

If there's one area where the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been consistently lacking, it's the music. The original scores for the films have never contained iconic, instantly-recognizable themes for each of the larger-than-life superheroes, and I've always considered that to be one of the biggest missed opportunities in Kevin Feige's otherwise excellently conceived brainchild.

So what could the studio do to change that? How about hire one of the world's best composers? That's a pretty good start, and that's exactly what they've done: Michael Giacchino has come on board to compose the music for Doctor Strange.

Giacchino, of course, is the Oscar-winner who created the scores for Pixar movies like The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, Cars 2, and Inside Out, so he's staying in the Disney family by jumping over to Marvel Studios with this next project. He also provided the score for Mission: Impossible 3, Star Trek, Let Me In, Super 8, 50/50, John Carter, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Jurassic World, and many more. But my favorite of all of his work is the beautiful, haunting score for Lost. I can't wait to hear what he does with the mind-bending Doctor Strange — I'm expecting some serious weirdness.
