Paul Reubens Says Big PEE-WEE Movie Announcement Coming
It's been awhile since we've had any updates on the new Pee-Wee movie that Paul Reubens has been developing with producer Judd Apatow. The last thing we heard was back in 2012, when Reubens said all they needed to do was a quick re-write, and that it would be shot very soon. A couple of years on he has told Rolling Stone that there's going to be an announcement very soon, and reveals that the movie will go into production in early 2015.
"There’s going to be a big announcement any minute now…. Yes. It’s been months and months of being right on the verge of being announced… I thought something was going to go public yesterday, actually, and that you’d be the first person I’d be talking about this with. But I’m thinking there will be something made public very soon. It’s going to get made shortly after the new year. I wish I could tell you about it right now, because…I mean, it’s amazing. It’s going to be amazing. It think it first got leaked four years ago or so that the movie was going to be made, and ever since then it’s just been stalling and stalling. So I’m really ready for this to happen. But I’m not kidding: It’s very imminent."
Well, that's great news! It's good to know that the project hasn't died, which is what I though may have happened to it. There's no information on what the movie will be about, what it will be called, or who's directing it, but I imagine that will all come in the near future with this official announcement that Reubens is teasing. I've always been a fan of Pee-Wee, and it will be fantastic to see him back up on the big screen!
