PEAKY BLINDERS’ Annabelle Wallis to Join Tom Cruise in THE MUMMY

It looks like Universal Pictures' The Mummy reboot has found its leading lady. Director Alex Kurtzman and the studio are in talks with Peaky Blinders actress Annabelle Wallis to join Tom Cruise in the film.

The Mummy will be the first feature in a planned series of monster movies in which the characters will exist in the same cinematic universe. The film is set in the modern day, and Cruise’s character is a special forces soldier. As for Wallis’ character, she will be an archaeologist. I can’t help but think this character will play a role in bringing the monster to life.

There’s not any information other than that, but the actress will also join Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) who is said to be playing The Mummy. The script for the film is being written Jon Spaihts (Prometheus), and the movie is set to be released on June 9th, 2017.

Wallis can currently be seen in the Sasha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong film The Brothers Grimsby and will also be seen in Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.
