Reese Witherspoon Cast in Astronaut Drama PALE BLUE DOT
It looks like Reese Witherspoon is ready to make real movies again, unlike the last piece of crap she made, Hot Pursuit. She’s attached to star in an astronaut drama called Pale Blue Dot, which was recently picked up by Fox Searchlight.
According to THR, the story “centers on a married astronaut who returns to Earth after a mission and begins an affair with a fellow astronaut. She heads into a downward spiral as she loses her connection to her family, a condition that can afflict those who spend a long time in space and see how microscopic the world is, and when her lover begins another affair with an astronaut trainee, the bottom drops out.”
The movie seems to deal with some heavy subject matter that I wouldn't wish on anybody. The tone of the film is described as being similar to Foxcatcher and The Right Stuff. Apparently it’s inspired by a true story of an astronaut love triangle in which a female mission specialist tried to kidnap a rival back in 2007.
