Robert Downey Jr.’s SHERLOCK HOLMES 3 Got Itself a Team of Talented Writers

Robert Downey Jr. and Warner Bros. are looking to get things rolling on Sherlock Holmes 3, and they’ve hired a team of writers to help shape the story and script. According to Variety, the writers room that has been set up for the film includes Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Gary Whitta (Rogue One), Geneva Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider), and Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden).

It’s interesting that they set up a writers room like this for one movie. Most writers rooms are for big franchises that will have multiple films. For example, Paramount Pictures set up a writers room for Transformers and Universal Pictures set one for their upcoming slate of monster movies. According to the report:

This is a rare case in which a room is being set up for just one film. However one source said that in this case it makes sense to gather a good group, rather than have several writers rewrite or polish, which happens to films often in the development process.

Jude Law is set to reprise his role as Watson and the director of the first two films, Guy Ritchie, is expected to return to helm the third movie.

This is a pretty talented group of people they’ve hired to write the film, and as a fan of this action-adventure franchise, I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with. I loved the first film, and I thought the sequel was even better. Can we expect the third to up the ante? I hope so!
