When the first trailer for The Dark Knight Rises hit, there was a little Easter egg included that was spotted. I guess you might consider this a spoiler, but the Easter egg was confirmed in a synopsis on the back of a children's story book for the film. It confirms the connection between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. 

Basically the trailer showed Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman wearing the necklace of Bruce Wayne's mother that was shown in the original Batman Begins. I just assumed at the time that she stole it from Wayne Manor. We got a lot of mocking comments about this little discovery saying...

- Not obviously, the necklace was destroyed when his mother was killed, you saw the bead scatter all over the ground, it's more a case of prop re-use than anything else.

- This. I can't believe people are still going on about this necklace when it's obviously just a prop being reused.

- Perhaps, or they could have simply used the same prop in 2 different movies for 2 different scenes.
The PKE meter in Ghostbusters was used in a few other movies. Plus it's a very simple and frequently-copied design.

- assuming that weeping boy Bruce managed to retrieve the broken pearls in the alleyway or maybe some honest gotham cop did, the mansion burned down, Bruce's Dad's stethoscope didn't survive the blaze what would make us believe the pearls would? They must be some magic pearls, Batsuit should be made of them pearls.

- How utterly ridiculous.

- I thought this was gonna be something about The Joker.  Because if you look at the close-up picture of the necklace.......it kind of looks like a smile.

- It's not necessarily an easter egg. Pearl necklaces are EXTREMELY common. Who says she stole it from Wayne, besides, the Manor was burnt in Begins. Who says she even stole it in the first place? Maybe it's her own necklace. I think it's just over-thinking on some parts in that everything is an easter egg. 

Well, I'm here to tell you today that you are all wrong. According to the book synopsis from HarperCollins...

There's a ferocious feline in town, and she's out to steal from Gotham's wealthy citizens. Unfortunately, Catwoman makes a mistake when she visits venerable citizen Bruce Wayne and takes Bruce's prized family heirloom. She thinks she made a clean escape . . . but she doesn't know who she toyed with!

The Warner Bros. marketing machine continues to spit out new promo banners for Christoper Nolan's highly anticipated film The Dark Knigt Rises! I'm sure you all don't mind seeing more stuff from what's going to be the epic final Batman film. The banners feature Christian Bale as Batman and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. The movie hits theaters on July 20th. Do you think it's going to be better than the last one?

SlashFilm had the chance to experience a wonderful art exhibit at The Rat Trap Gallery in Anaheim, CA. All of the art featured was inspired by Disney‘s Magic Mountain. Check out some of the sweet Disney/Movie mashups, including The Dark Knight, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws and others. The exhibit is open from Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from noon-5 p.m. though June 2 and is located at 149 Center Street Promenade, Anaheim, CA.

The first clip for Killing Them Softly has premiered online at IGN. THe film stars Brad Pitt, Richard Jenkins and James Gandolfini. The story follows "three dumb guys who think they’re smart and rob a Mob protected card game, causing the local criminal economy to collapse."

Nothing better than some Taxi Driver poster art to start your day off. This is one of my favorite Martin Scorcese movies, but that could be partly to do with the fact it was released the year I was born. Here is a must watch video of Billy West, Tara Strong, Maurice LaMarche, John DiMaggio, Kevin Conroy, Jess Harnell, and Rob Paulsen reading the Star Wars Trilogy live at the Emerald City Comic Con. The cool thing is that they are using their own character voices - Pinky the Stormtrooper, Shatner C-3PO and R2-D2 Walken! This takes an hour to watch, but it is well worth it.

Here is the first trailer for Leo Carax' Holy Motors, which stars Denis Lavant, Eva Mendes and singer Kylie Minogue. The film follows the mysterious Monsieur Oscar during a 24 hours in the day as he travels between different lives ranging from a murderer to a corporate executive to a monstrous creature. The film premiered at Cannes this past week and has been getting positive reviews.

From dawn to dusk, a few hours in the life of Monsieur Oscar, a shadowy character who journeys from one life to the next. He is, in turn, captain of industry, assassin, beggar, monster, family man... Prepare yourselves, Bat-fans: Yahoo! has a brand new interview with Christian Bale in which the actor gives some new insights into playing Batman in The Dark Knight Rises.

As usual with these sorts of interview pieces I recommend that you go read the original article, but I'll pull out some interesting snippets from the conversation. Here...we...go.

On being in the summer's most anticipated movie:

Well, I feel that as actors, we’ve done our work. The pressure is on Chris Nolan. But I have to say, I always approach every movie as if no one is ever going to see it, (laughs). It’s better because you don’t get self-conscious about it, and think about things like, ‘What are people going to think?’ I usually just go, ‘I don’t think anyone is going to see it, so do what you think is right and what you think is right for other people.’

On what he expects the legacy of this Batman series to be:

For me, time will tell with that. And for myself as well, I feel like you sit back and digest it. You watch it with new eyes for the first time, you watch it a few times and then you get that answer in a few years time. For myself, when you are inside a project, you cannot see the wood for the trees.

On whether or not Batman introduces any new Bat-gadgets this time out:

Of course he does. He always has to intro something. And truly, some of the most phenomenal things. You can’t really get away without having Batman not have a new gadget.

Bale also speaks about working with Chris Nolan again, the physical undertaking of making the movie, donning the famous Batman suit, and he also praises Tom Hardy's performance as Bane.

Here's some starter screens for Nintendo games that never existed. But looking at these titles, don't you wish they did?! Too bad most of these are too violent (or involve too many drunk rednecks) to have been made for the NES console. But we can dream can't we? I defnitely woul dhave been scarred as a child if I played A clock Work Orange video game. These were created by VGJunk over the past year. Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach are producing a new quirky indie comedy that will star Owen Wilson, Olivia Wilde, and Brie Larson who most recently had a role in 21 Jump Street. The movie is called Squirrels to the Nuts, and it's being directed by Peter Bogdanovich. Jason Schwartzman is also in talks to join the project, but as of right now he's not officially attached. 

The script for the film was written by Bogdanovich, and it follows a "hooker-turned-Broadway-thesp (Larson) and the recurring intersection of those two facets of her life. Wilson will play a Broadway director who pays for the young protag's services despite being married to the star of the play. He later gives Larson's character money to quit escorting and follow her dreams. Wilde will play a therapist whose own mother is in rehab for alcoholism."

There's a great and talented team behind the development of this movie, and I think it will end up being a solid comedy. What do you think about everyone involved with the film, and the story they plan on telling?

I have no idea if this Game of Thrones street art is real or not, but it doesn't really matter because it's still pretty awesome, and it doesn't make it not true. I can't wait to see the next episode of the series! This season has been amazing so far, and it's only going to get better.

Two new super secret sci-fi film projects are in development over at Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. There isn't much information on the movies, but I'll give you all the information I've got.

The movie being developed at Warner Bros. is called The Wind. It's being directed by commercials director Nic Mathieu, and this will be his first feature film. Men in Black 3 and Mission: Impossible writer David Koepp is writing the script, and the story is set in a space colony. Mathieu has done some pretty impressive commercial work, so I'm sure he's going to create something very cool. 

The second movie being developed at Paramount is coming from J.J. Abrams. This is an Untitled film project, and it will be a low budget movie “with sci-fi elements.” That's all we know! You know how secretive the director is. But if you're a fan of Abrams like I am then you know it's most likely going to turn out to be awesome.

If you don't love Bill Murray, I don't think we can be friends. Over the past few years, he's been known to do awesomely random things like show up at people's house parties unannounced, stop by and sing karaoke with people he's never met before, and drunk driving in Sweden behind the wheel of a golf cart that didn't belong to him. (No one was hurt, which is why that one's funny.)

Badass Digest points us to Murray's newest piece of awesomeness, a video of him walking in slow motion down a hallway with a group of guys. This may not seem that great on the face of it, but when you find out that these guys were working on a commercial with Murray, asked for an autograph, and he gave them this instead...well, that pretty much says it all.

Here's the third supercut from Flavorwire that showcases actors in their film debuts. Some are just small bit parts, some feature the actors baby faced, and some are just flat out embarrassing! The best though are the opening and almost closing portions of the supercut, featuring Tom Cruise in some crazy cut off shorts and an insanely high voice; and Cameron Diaz back when she was sssssssmokin' hot in The Mask. She was unreal in that movie... what happened???

"And here...we...go." Blastr points us to possibly the most captivating video you'll watch all day, a supercut of Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know when I reiterate that this is truly an astonishing performance, and Ledger's Oscar for Best Supporting Actor was absolutely deserved (though, sadly, awarded postumously). He almost singlehandedly gave comic book movies the complexity that had been missing from a lot of the earlier efforts, which is partly due to the amazing character of the Joker himself and partly due to the way Ledger threw himself into the role.

I didn't even watch this whole video because I plan to rewatch The Dark Knight before The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters, but scrubbing through it I'm reminded of just how wrong people like this were when the casting news initially came out.

Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are teaming up once again to shoot another awesome film together called The Tomb. They recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight to discuss the movie on the set of the film, and it gives us our first look at the actors in their roles, and they both look like badasses. It's being directed by Mikael Håfströmd, and here's a rundown of the story,

Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he’s ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design.

Schwarzenegger, in the role of Church, plays a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.

This sounds like it going to be an awesome movie, and I'm excited about seeing this story unfold. In the interview Stallone explains,

We're just a couple of old war horses talking about the oddest subjects on the planet. I think in the beginning we were competitive -- there's no question about it. A little alpha territorial. And then we realized it was good for our careers [to work together].

Schwarzenegger adds,

The funny thing is we have tried, I think, our entire careers to always work together. We have talked about it for three decades and it never happened. I think we tried maybe too hard. … But now after the governorship, somehow this just fell into place.

Sly goes on to talk about this action film genre and how it's fading away,

This genre unfortunately is becoming… let's just say it's fading away. You have the superheroes today which are possessed with all extraordinary powers; they can blink and a fireball comes out of there. It's great. And then you have a bunch of us which is just your basic male-pattern badness. … Kind of like hands-on action.

As much as I love the superhero movie, I also love the hardcore badass action films as well. I hope these kinds of action movie don't die! That would be a shame. Check out the video interview in which they talk about it in more detail.

It's been a while since we've gotten any news on director Hayao Miyazaki's next project. Last year it was reported that he'd be veering from his family friendly classics to take on a more realistic film about "the current state of Japan in the aftermath of the tsunami and nuclear crisis." While we're waiting for that to come to fruition, we can still gather up the Miyazaki schwag thanks to 84/5 Studio. Over at their Etsy you can pick up postcard and poster sets that feature 9 of his Studio Ghibli films in the style of Penguin book covers.

Remember that Nazi moon invasion film Iron Sky that is being released? Well the director of that film, Timo Vuorensola, must be fascinated with Nazi's because he's making another film called I Killed Adolf Hitler, a time traveling comedy, which is based on the Eisner Award winning graphic novel by Jason. The story definitely sounds entertaining! It follows the adventures of a hitman who encounters complications after traveling back in time to 1938 to assassinate Hitler. 

Here's the synopsis for the comic:

In this full-color graphic novel, Jason posits a strange, violent world in which contract killers can be hired to rub out pests, be they dysfunctional relatives, abusive co-workers, loud neighbors, or just annoyances in general -- and as you might imagine, their services are in heavy demand. One such killer is given the unique job of traveling back in time to kill Adolf Hitler in 1939... but things go spectacularly wrong. Hitler overpowers the would-be assassin and sends himself to the present, leaving the killer stranded in the past. The killer eventually finds his way back to the present by simply waiting the decades out as he ages, and teams up with his now much-younger girlfriend to track down the missing fascist dictator...

Production will start on the film in 2013. A few months ago the film was set up over at Studio Eight who optioned the rights, and it was reported that they hired screenwriter D.C. Walker of Up Country Productions to adapt the film.

I really enjoy watching these animated Pixar Studios Stories. I've been slowly going through them and watched one earlier this week that was pretty entertaining. It's called "Clean Start," and it tells the story of a time when the Pixar staff shaved their heads and then made a challenge on how long they could go without shaving their beards or cutting their hair. It's pretty funny stuff so enjoy!

Not long ago we told you about a Snow White and the Huntsman Pop-Up Gallery event taking place in L.A. which features an awesome mural for the film created by street artist MEAR ONE. He painted a moonlit forest scene on a 12-ft mirror. You can now see his process creating the piece in the video below.

The gallery opened on May 19 th at 7710 Melrose Avenue in L.A. and includes a great gallery of talented artists, including 3-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood.
