Star Wars Book Trailer Gives Fascinating Look at Original Trilogy Costumes

Author Brandon Alinger was granted access to the Lucasfilm Archives at Skywalker Ranch to research and photograph the costumes from the original Star Wars trilogy. The photos and information he gathered make up the new book Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy, which, along with concept art, features the most detailed and comprehensive look at these costumes and the work that went into creating them for the screen. In this trailer, we get to see many pages from the book and footage of Alinger and his team going through the archives. The Lucasfilm Archives look magical. They must smell like plastic, old fabric, and the dreams of geeks everywhere. I don’t know exactly what dreams of geeks smells like, but I imagine it’s a mix of convention halls, model glue, and Peanut M&M’s. Pssssst, Calvin Klein, get on that fragrance stat!

Get a behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars Costumes: The Original Trilogy in this special trailer, as author Brandon Alinger visits the Lucasfilm Archives at Skywalker Ranch to research and photograph actual outfits and gear used in the classic films. The book features detailed histories and information on costumes for both major and minor characters, from Darth Vader to Tusken Raiders.
