Tarantino's HATEFUL EIGHT Will Begin Production in November

The behind the scenes saga of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight continues, with Showbiz 411 claiming that the director will begin production on the movie this November. To recap, Tarantino wrote the script for the movie, liked it, sent it to a couple of actors, and the script was leaked online, at which point he threw a bit of an understandable tantrum and refused to ever make the movie. That was in January. In April he staged a live read of the script and had a really great time, even announcing that he was working on a new draft. Last week at Cannes he said he might get the script out there someday, somehow, either by publishing it or producing it.

Now come reports that production will begin in Wyoming late this fall, and I hope this is true, if only so that I can actually see if the script was worth all this sturm und drang. The cast is expected to be the cast of the staged reading, which was Samuel L. Jackson, James Parks, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Denis Menochet, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Dana Gourrier, Zoe Bell, and James Remar. Unfortunately, Christoph Waltz is not expected to be involved, which is a bummer, because no one delivers Tarantino’s dialogue as well as he does.

The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.
