Tatiana Maslany in Talks For Boston Marathon Bombing Movie STRONGER

There are a handful of competing movies in development that are based on the Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, but it appears that David Gordon Green's Stronger is going to be the first one to leave the starting line. Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to star a couple of months ago, and now THR reports that Emmy-nominated Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is in talks to join him.

Gyllenhaal will play Jeff Bauman, a man who was waiting for his girlfriend at the finish line when two bombs went off, resulting in him losing both of his legs. Maslany will play the female lead.

There's some speculation that this casting could take her out of the running for Star Wars: Episode 8, and with Collider reporting that Gugu Mbatha-Raw is joining the Star Wars cast after being rumored for a role a couple of days ago, it's possible that she took the part Maslany was auditioning for. But Disney and Lucasfilm haven't officially confirmed that casting yet, and even if they do, we've heard there are supposed to be two major female characters in Episode 8, so if the scheduling works out, Maslany may be able to handle both movies. We'll keep you posted.
