THE LEGO MOVIE 2 Will Be Written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have officially signed on with Warner Bros. to write the script for The LEGO Movie sequel. They wrote and directed the first movie, which, as you know, was completely awesome.

It was recently revealed that Warner Bros. will be developing a spin-off LEGO Batman movie before they make the sequel. That movie will be directed by the animation supervisor on The LEGO Movie, Chris McKay. He was set to direct the sequel before he made the switch, and there's no word on whether he'll come back on board when he's done with the Batman LEGO movie, which is being written by Seth Grahame-Smith. I'm sure there's an option for Lord and Miller to direct the sequel if they want to.

The directors have a lot of other projects going on right now. Some of those include a Will Forte comedy series they are executive producing called Last Man on Earth. They also have two other pilots they are developing: an untitled comedy with The Interview screenwriter Dan Sterling, which is set up at CBS, as well as a remake of the 1981 superhero dramedy Greatest American Hero at Fox. Then, of course, there's 23 Jump Street, which was recently announced.

The studio has set the release date for The LEGO Movie sequel for May 26th, 2017. I can't wait to see what adventures these characters will embark on next.
