The Long-Awaited Film Adaptation of THE DARK TOWER Has Been Delayed

I've been waiting for this feature film adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower for years! The movie was supposed to be released on February 17, 2017, but according to EW, it looks like we are going to have to wait even longer to see it.

The film has been postponed, and now we have to wait until the summer of 2017 before we get to watch it. There is no specific date set yet, but it will happen sometime between May and September. The report says that even though the Nikolaj Arcel-directed film wrapped in late July, they won't be able to finish the post-production work in time. They needed deadline extensions to complete the visual effects, as well as more time to promote the film.

An early version of the first trailer leaked last month. We didn't post it, but I did get a chance to see it before it was ripped from the internet, and it looked awesome! I'm excited to eventually see a high-quality version of the trailer. This movie looks like it's going to be incredible. Make sure to get caught up on all of our Dark Tower movie news here

The Dark Tower series spans eight novels along with a few assorted short stories and comic books. The movie is a mixture of these stories which follow Roland Deschain, "Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.  It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it."

Idris Elba plays Deschain in the film, and he is joined by Matthew McConaughey as the villain Randall Flagg, a.k.a. The man in black; Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers; Abbey Lee as Tirana; and Fran Kranz as Pimli, plus Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick, and Claudia Kiim.

We'll let you know what the new release date for the film is when it's announced.
