Trailer for ATARI: GAME OVER - Documentary about Failed E.T. Game

At GeekTyrant’s FantasyCon booth, we gave convention-goers a chance to play an original copy of Atari’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial video game. The two responses we got most were, “Whoa, that game actually exists?” followed by, “It’s even worse than I imagined!" One of the most successful movies of all time spawned a famous video game flop that cost thousands of Atari employees their jobs and eventually brought the ’80s tech giant down just two years after the 1982 release of the game.

Here's a trailer for a documentary coming out that chronicles the video game’s development and market failure, and the excavation of the estimated 750,000 copies of the game that Atari buried in a New Mexico desert. The film was directed by Zak Penn (screenwriter for The Incredible Hulk, X-Men 2), and will be released this fall on Xbox.
