Trailer For Tobey Maguire's Bobby Fischer Film PAWN SACRiFICE

An intense first trailer has been released for Toby Maguire's upcoming chess film Pawn Sacrifice. The movie is based on the real-life events of legendary chess champion Bobby Fischer. Fischer is a fascinating subject, and it looks like director Edward Zwick (Legends of the Fall) and screenwriter Steven Knight (Locke, Peaky Blindersdid a great job bringing his story to life. There's a great documentary called Bobby Fischer Against the World which you should check out if you haven't already before you see this movie.

The film is set during the height of the Cold War as "American chess prodigy Bobby Fischer (Maguire) finds himself caught between two superpowers when he challenges the Soviet Empire." Also starring Liev Schreiber as his Russian arch rival Boris Spassky, "Pawn Sacrifice chronicles Fischer’s terrifying struggles with genius and madness, and the rise and fall of a kid from Brooklyn who captured the imagination of the world."

The film also co-stars Peter Sarsgaard (Blue Jasmine), Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), Robin Weigert (Sons of Anarchy), and Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man). Pawn Sacrifice is set to open in select theaters on September 18th.
