Watch: Nicolas Cage Surprises Drafthouse Audience at Nic Cage Marathon; Will Star in New Bank Heist Movie 211

Imagine showing up to an Alamo Drafthouse theater in Austin, Texas, with you and your friends all prepared to sit for twelve straight hours and watch a marathon of Nicolas Cage movies. It'd be pretty cool to find out that Cage himself chose which movies of his that you were going to watch that day, but it'd be straight-up legendary for Cage himself to appear in the flesh and randomly read Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" before sitting down and watching all five movies with you. That's exactly what happened yesterday at C4GED, Alamo Drafthouse's fourth annual Cage movie marathon celebration, and while we weren't in the room, there are some official videos that make us feel like we were.

Nicolas Cage shocked and awed attendees with a surprise appearance at the fourth and final CAGED Marathon in Austin, TX! True to his anarchic spirit, he kicked the five movie marathon off with a cold reading of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart."

Here's the full intro where Cage surprises the crowd:

Here's a long Q&A that includes some pretty amazing moments:

And in case you were wondering, here are the movies Cage chose for the day's festivities:

BANGKOK DANGEROUS
JOE
BRINGING OUT THE DEAD
ARMY OF ONE
LORD OF WAR

Amazing. What a cool experience that must have been for those who attended.

Before I wrap this up, I wanted to pass on word from Deadline about a new Nic Cage movie called 211, which is the police code for "robbery in progress." Cage will headline the film for director York Alec Shackleton, playing a cop attempting to stop the heist. Production begins in March in Bulgaria, and since this logline honestly sounds pretty bland, we're hoping that it contains another manic performance from the master so we can at least enjoy it on that level.
