Watch: The Art of a Great TV Show Title Sequence

Sploid points us to this cool video from Ryan Hollinger that dives into what makes an exceptionally good TV show title sequence. It seems to boil down to this: all of the great title sequences — whether from Game of Thrones, Dexter, True Detective, The X-Files, and many more — pull you into the story of the show with visuals that either overtly hint at or psychologically trigger thematic connections between what you're seeing in the sequence and the larger point of the show as a whole. Title sequences are often microcosms of the shows themselves, and when you see one that really works, it'll make you think twice about fast-forwarding through it to get to the good stuff.
