Wesley Snipes Talks BLADE 4 and Potential Inclusion in The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Wesley Snipes' Blade was way ahead of the game as far as superhero movies go. The first film came out in 1998, years before Bryan Singer and Sam Raimi would invigorate the genre with X-Men and Spider-Man, respectively.

The third film in that franchise, Blade: Trinity, came out over a decade ago in 2004, and since then, Marvel Studios formed and become a dominant force in the entertainment industry. Now that Snipes has resolved his legal troubles and is back acting again, what about the possibility of a Blade 4? In an interview at Comic-Con, the actor spoke with Deadline and provided a tantalizing hint:

SNIPES: I just hope that [at the panel for his new show The Player] we don’t have all the questions centered around if I’m going to do Blade Four or not.
DEADLINE: Well, will you be bringing the vampire hunter back?
SNIPES: The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.
DEADLINE: Could we see you going the ever expanding Marvel Universe in another way?
SNIPES: That’s a possibility too. I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to aBlade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful. The first season of The Player will be interesting as well because we have drama and action, which is what I like. It gives me a chance to do a number of different things.

I feel like Snipes' Blade would be a better fit on the Netflix shows, where he can operate alongside The Punisher, Daredevil, and people on that level and not have to worry about the massive problems the members of the Avengers have to deal with. And since those shows are technically considered part of the larger MCU, that could be exactly what Kevin Feige and the other Marvel execs have in mind.

What do you think? Would you like to see a Blade 4?
