Lionsgate announced back in May that they will be developing a new big screen adaptation of Power Rangers. THR is now reporting that the studio has hired X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz to write the project, and they've also brought on Roberto Orci (Star Trek Into Darkness, Transformers) as an executive producer.
Saban launched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a live-action TV series over 20 years ago, and the series has been in continuous production ever since. My kids absolutely love this series, and they were beside themselves with joy when I told them a movie was being made.
It's great that they got a couple of talented writers to work on this thing. It means there's a really good chance it will turn out better than the previous two movies released by 20th Century Fox: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie in 1995 and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie in 1997.
