Zack Snyder Wants to Make a 300-Style George Washington Film

In a rather intriguing article in Bloomberg.com, director Zack Snyder gives an in-depth look into his life. With glimpses into his personal life both past and present and some of the inner workings of his creative process, the article is totally worth reading. However, there is one part that really stuck out to me and that was the section on his future projects.

In the final paragraph of the article, they mention Justice League and a full-on Snyder take on one of George Washington’s most pivotal battles in the Revolutionary War. Here is what they had to say:

One of these days, he’d like to make one about George Washington in the style of 300. He has a picture in his office of the Revolutionary War hero crossing the icy Delaware on his way to decimate the British in the Battle of Trenton. “We were talking about it,” Snyder says. “The first thing we asked was, well, how are we going to make it look? I pointed at this painting. It looks like 300. It’s not that hard.”

The Battle of Trenton was a necessary win for America. Moral was low due to two previous losses to the Hessians, or as Snyder likes to call them, the British. Winning the Battle of Trenton was Washington’s way of regaining the trust of his troops and influencing more Americans to join in the fight.

If nothing else, we can say that Snyder has a very original perspective and you can see it in all the movies that he directs. This battle deserves a movie adaptation and Snyder will definitely bring us one. I am not saying that it will be the best interpretation or most historically accurate, however, I am sure it will look cool.
