If You Need A New Tabletop Roleplaying Game, Chaosium Has Starter Sets For Just $1 Now

With all the controversy surrounding the botched new OGL from Wizards of the Coast for Dungeons & Dragons, players have been looking for new systems to try out. If this is you, or if you’ve just been wanting to shake things up with your own TTRPG playing, then there is a steal of a deal going on right now.

DriveThru RPG currently has the PDF copies of the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set (affiliate link), RuneQuest Starter Set (affiliate link), and Basic Roleplaying (affiliate link) by Chaosium on sale for only $1 each. These would be a great investment even if you only have a passing interest in these games.

Sadly, since it is PDF only it won’t come with all the physical goodies such as dice sets and maps, but you will get digital copies of everything that can be digital though. You can check out my full review of the Call of Cthulhu starter set here and I highly recommend grabbing it because overall it is a fantastic system. I haven’t personally done anything with RuneQuest or read the Basic Roleplaying book, but I will definitely be picking these up because I have been interested in checking them out. As someone fairly familiar with Chaosium via Call of Cthulhu, I am incredibly impressed with them as a company.

When you buy physical copies of their books from the site you automatically gain access to a PDF copy which is something I really appreciate about them. And from what I have read in their books, they take a lot of care and thought into giving you everything you need to run an inclusive game that is fun for everyone. They give you a ton of options for being as period accurate as you want while also making sure your players still have the freedom to make whatever kind of character they want.

Overall, I’m always very impressed with everything that has come out from Chaosium. So like I said, if you have even just a passing interest in another system, I would definitely grab these three items now. There is no announcement on how long this sale will last for, so don’t miss your chance.
