17 Nostalgic and Weird Movie Tie-In Music Videos From The '80s and '90s
Growing up in the '80s and '90s, I remember when a big movie was released, it usually came with a tie-in music video from a high-profile artist. Hell, they still do it today, only the videos aren’t as awkward now as they were then, and music videos were a much bigger deal back then than they are now.
Music movie tie-in videos are made to help further promote their films. These videos usually had decent-sized budgets, featured celebrity cameos from the movies they were promoting, and most of them clocked in at around five minutes long. Most of the time, they also turned out to be pretty weird and ridiculous.
My kids are huge fans of The Goonies, and I recently showed them Cyndi Lauper’s music video for the film, which they loved. But it got me to thinking about all the other awkward nostalgic movie tie-in music videos that have been made over the years, and I’ve posted a collection of them below for you to enjoy. I'd have to say one of my favorites is for Dragnet, because listening to Tom Hanks rap is awesome!
