1883 Star Isabel May Joins Jurnee Smollett in The Upcoming Thriller SUNFLOWER
1883 breakout actress Isabel May is set to star opposite Jurnee Smollett in Lionsgate’s upcoming thriller Sunflower. Misha Green (Lovecraft Country) is directing the film, which will be her feature debut, from a script she wrote.
The story follows two women who struggle “to escape from a deranged college professor who holds them hostage on a remote sunflower farm.” That sounds like it will be quite an intense movie.
May was awesome in 1883, which was the Yellowstone spinoff prequel series. She was also previously cast in the DC Studios film Wonder Twins before it was canceled. It’s good to see her land another solid movie role. Her other film credits include the Prime Video rom-com I Want You Back with Jenny Slate and Charlie Day, as well as indie films such as The Moon & Back, Run Hide Fight and Let’s Scare Julie.
May is also set to star in the upcoming indie movie The Smack, with Casey Affleck, Marisa Tomei, Kathy Bates and Alan Arkin.
Green will also produce the film alongside Craig Flores, with Meredith Wieck and Aaron Edmonds overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
