1976 and 1977 STAR WARS Comic-Con Photos
Comic-Con wasn't always as crazy as it is now. It has grown into a Hulk of an event. Even when I first started going I could just go buy my ticket at the door. Now they are selling out six months in advance! I can only imagine what the event looks like now to the fans and artists who were involved with it back in the '70s. I'm sure some of them aren't really happy with what it has become.
One of my colleagues, Alex Billington from Firstshowing.net, recently tweeted a photo of the 1977 panel for the making of Star Wars. You can see that photo above. That shows you basically what Hall H would have looked like in the 70s. The photo sparked my curiosity, and I went on a search for other Star Wars photos from Comic-Con. I came across a few more from EW that were taken in 1976. They include the Star Wars booth, Mark Hamill, an exclusive poster, and more. You check them out below!
