1977 Recording of STAR WARS Audience Reaction in Movie Theater

There are a lot of us out there who weren't able to be a part of the Star Wars experience when it was first released back in 1977. Some of us, like myself, weren't even born yet! But back in 1977, a 13-year-old kid named William Forsche took a tape recorder in a movie theater with his mom, and recorded the audience's reaction to the movie as it played out on the big screen.

This recording surfaced on YouTube a few years ago, but has been making the rounds on the internet recently. The audio takes us back in time and gives us a sense of what it might have been like sitting in the theater with the audience, and hearing their reactions. It's incredibly cool to listen to, especially when they clap and cheer in certain parts of the film like when Han Solo flies in with his Millennium Falcon to help Luke save the day near the end.

It may not be as good as actually being there, but it's the next best thing.

This audio was recorded in 1977 when my mother took me to see Star Wars. (for the second time) Hearing her laugh (@ :42 & @ 2:54) and cheer with me and the rest of the audience is absolutely priceless to me.
