1984 Interview Features 12-Year-Old Ke Huy Quan Talking About How Lucky He is To Be Cast in INDIANA JONES

Below you’ll find a retro interview from 1984 that features 12-year-old child actor Ke Huy Quan speaking with ITN about his experience auditioning for and landing the role of Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

His whole attitude, charm, and demeanor haven’t changed at all over the years! It’s so delightful watching him in this interview! He talks about how Steven Spielberg asked him and Harrison Ford to pretend to play cards and he sees that Ford is cheating.

He goes on to talk about how he changed, and refers to himself as one of the “boat people” and how he now gets to make this movie. He also talks about how lucky he feels, saying: "I think I'm very lucky... and I'm number seven in my family – that's a lucky number!"

It’s so freakin’ cool that this kid, a kid I admired growing up, who also played Data in The Goonies, ended up winning an Oscar!
