Sam Jackson Joins Iron Man 2 while Terrence Howard is wondering what the hell happened.

by Joey Paur

Samuel L. Jackson was asked at a press junket for 'Soul Men' when he was asked if he would be in 'Iron Man 2'. He went on to say that he talked with Jon Favreau and he was told that indeed he would return as Nick Fury for the sequel. He didn't talk about how big his role will be in it but it can't be any smaller than his role in the first film. It will be cool to see what they do with his character.

As for Terrence Howard apparently the guy had no idea this was going to go down. He found out online himself. That would really suck. Here is what he had to say:

It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. I read something in the trades that implicated it was about money or something but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on. And promises aren't kept. Good faith negotiations aren't always held up. You know, even friendships, people that you support...

and he kind of trails off from there. From what it sounds like here is what I think went down. Howard and Marvel were in negotiations, they were not going well, Howard was holding out, Marvel said screw it, and without telling him they just ended it and moved on. That sounds about right. So what does MArvel have to say about all this? No Comment. Why is their no comment? Marvel president Kevin Feige told MTV:

"As is the policy with most people, when you talk about dotting I's and crossing T's, certainly that isn't the case yet on a number of things we're doing," he said, later making the same statement regarding Kenneth Branagh and "Thor" (take that for what you will). "But that [‘Hollywood Reporter' story] was not an announcement. That was, as it tends to happen in the business, is rumors and leaks and things like that. I do think there will be clarity soon."

Well Kevin, when you are ready to expound on what is really going on, and clarify everything, we are ready to listen.
