What Movies come out this Weekend? Oct. 24th

Another large selection of movies to choose from this week! Cheack out the list below, what are your going to go see?

 

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR

Cast: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale

The third film in the franchise finds high school seniors Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) facing the prospect of separation as they head off to different colleges. Joined by the rest of the Wildcats, they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about the future. With incredible new music and exciting dance numbers designed to take maximum advantage of the big screen, this motion picture extravaganza delivers plenty of high-energy entertainment from East High's talented ensemble.



Of course we all know that this is the movie that is going to be number freakin 1 at the box office this week. every kid in America wants to see it including mine. My wife will be taking them to the movie.

 

SAW V

Cast: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Scott Patterson

In the fifth installment of the Saw franchise, Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.



If you are into the Saw films then here ya go. This is your weekend. As for me, I liked the first one. Then it just turned into a gimmick.

 

PRIDE AND GLORY

Cast: Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight

A saga centered on a multi-generational family of New York City Police officers. The family's moral codes are tested when Ray Tierney (Edward Norton), investigates a case that reveals an incendiary police corruption scandal involving his own brother-in-law (Colin Farrell). For Ray, the truth is revelatory, a Pandora's Box that threatens to upend not only the Tierney legacy but the entire NYPD.



This movie sat around for two years before it was released. My guess is it won't be that good. I know its got Ed Norton and Colin Farrell but it still just doesn't look that good. As Ed Norton says in the trailer "This isn't gonna go how you want it to."

 

PASSENGERS

Cast: Anne Hathaway, Patrick Wilson, Andre Braugher

After a plane crash, a young therapist, Claire (Anne Hathaway), is assigned by her mentor (Andre Braugher) to counsel the flight's five survivors. When they share their recollections of the incident – which some say include an explosion that the airline claims never happened – Claire is intrigued by Eric (Patrick Wilson), the most secretive of the passengers. Just as Claire's professional relationship with Eric – despite her better judgment – blossoms into a romance, the survivors begin to disappear mysteriously, one by one. Claire suspects that Eric may hold all the answers and becomes determined to uncover the truth, no matter the consequences.



This movies has a great cast and it looks like it could be good. If I get a chance I will go see it.

 

CHANGELING

Cast: Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich, Jeffrey Donovan

Clint Eastwood directs Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich in a provocative thriller based on actual events: Changeling. In the film, Christine Collins' (Jolie) prayers are met when her kidnapped son is returned. But amidst the frenzy of the photo-op reunion, she realizes this child is not hers. Facing corrupt police and a skeptical public, she desperately hunts for answers, only to be confronted by a truth that will change her forever.

Los Angeles, 1928: On a Saturday morning in a working-class suburb, Christine said goodbye to her son, Walter, and left for work. When she came home, she discovered he had vanished. A fruitless search ensues, and months later, a boy claiming to be the nine-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of cops, reporters and her conflicted emotions, Christine allows him to stay overnight. But in her heart, she knows he is not Walter.

As she pushes authorities to keep looking, she learns that in Prohibition-era L.A., women don't challenge the system and live to tell their story. Slandered as delusional and unfit, Christine finds an ally in activist Reverend Briegleb (Malkovich), who helps her fight the city to look for her missing boy. Based on the actual incident that rocked California's legal system, Changeling tells the shocking tale of a mother's quest to find her son, and those who won't stop until they silence her.



This is my #1 pick for the week. It has everything going for it, story, actors, and director. I am looking forward to watching this one.

 

SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK

Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Samantha Morton, Michelle Williams

Theater director Caden Cotard (Hoffman) is mounting a new play. His life catering to suburban blue-hairs at the local regional theater in Schenectady, New York is looking bleak. His wife Adele (Keener) has left him to pursue her painting in Berlin, taking their young daughter Olive (Goldstein) with her. His therapist, Madeleine Gravis (Davis), is better at plugging her best-seller than she is at counseling him. A new relationship with the alluringly candid Hazel (Morton) has prematurely run aground. And a mysterious condition is systematically shutting down each of his autonomic functions, one by one.

Worried about the transience of his life, he leaves his home behind. He gathers an ensemble cast into a warehouse in New York City, hoping to create a work of brutal honesty. He directs them in a celebration of the mundane, instructing each to live out their constructed lives in a growing mockup of the city outside. The years rapidly fold into each other, and Caden buries himself deeper into his masterpiece, but the textured tangle of real and theatrical relationships blurs the line between the world of the play and that of Caden's own deteriorating reality.



I hope to get a chance to see this movie. it looks really good. Extreamly odd, and very different which is why it appeals to me.

 

FEAR(S) OF THE DARK

Fear(s) of the Dark, a wildly inventive and visually dazzling collection of fearful tales by six of the world's most renowned comic and graphic artists - Blutch, Charles Burns, Marie Caillou, Pierre Di Sciullo, Lorenzo Mattotti, and Richard McGuire. From a besotted student whose girlfriend is weirdly ardent in her affections, to a Japanese schoolgirl menaced by a long-dead samurai, and a pack of hounds on a bloodthirsty rampage, "Fear(s)" has a story strand to trouble every sleep - not to mention a stunning range of animation styles. Shot in shimmering black and white, the six intertwined tales create an unprecedented epic where phobias and nightmares come to life and reveal Fear at its most naked and intense.



This animated film looks great! I am going to find out where it is playing and I am going to watch it.

 

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN

A pale, serious young girl, she only comes out at night and doesn't seem affected by the freezing temperatures.

Coinciding with Eli's arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders. One man is found tied to a tree, another frozen in the lake, a woman bitten in the neck. Blood seems to be the common denominator – and for an introverted boy like Oskar, who is fascinated by gruesome stories, it doesn't take long before he figures out that Eli is a vampire. But by now a subtle romance has blossomed between Oskar and Eli, and she gives him the strength to fight back against his aggressors. Oskar becomes increasingly aware of the tragic, inhuman dimension of Eli's plight, but cannot bring himself to forsake her. Frozen forever in a twelve-year-old's body, with all the burgeoning feelings and confused emotions of a young adolescent, Eli knows that she can only continue to live if she keeps on moving. But when Oskar faces his darkest hour, Eli returns to defend him the only way she can ...

Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson weaves friendship, rejection and loyalty into a disturbing and darkly atmospheric, yet poetic and unexpectedly tender tableau of adolescence. The feature is based on the best-selling novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist.



Here is another film that looks amazing. This is another movie I will have to seek out and go see becuase it looks like it will be a limited release.

 

I'VE LOVED YOU SO LONG

Cast: Kristin Scott Thomas, Elsa Zylberstein, Serge Hazanavicius

Kristin Scott Thomas offers a truly sensational performance in this utterly engrossing and deeply moving tale of two sisters who rebuild their relationship after fifteen years apart. The two women gradually rediscover common ground and how to relate to one another through the memories of their shared childhood, all the while with the spectre of their time apart looming overhead...

This intelligent and compassionate film is a testament to the power of female love and forgiveness.



Not so much.

 

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS 3D

Cast: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara

The film follows Jack Skellington, the leader of a holiday-themed world known as Halloween Town, who becomes bored of his repetitive lifestyle and eventually enters the world of Christmas Town; interested in the new world's culture, Jack attempts to combine the two holidays, with unexpectedly disastrous results.



Great movie! But, I have it on DVD. It will be much cheaper to wach it at home.
