So what movie are you going to see this weekend?

BODY OF LIES

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Mark Strong

The international trailer for Body of Lies. Based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius' 2007 novel about a CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation - and his life - on the line.



This movie is on the top of my list of films to see this next week. You've got two amazing actors being directed by one of the most talented filmmakers in Hollywood. It looks like it is going to be a very good film and I am looking forward to watching it.

 

QUARANTINE

Cast: Jennifer Carpenter, Steve Harris, Jay Hernandez

Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.



This movie doesn't look like it going to be to bad. This film is based on another foreign film. I want to see but not sure if I will make my way to the theater. If the opportunity presents itself then I will take it.

 

ROCKNROLLA

Cast: Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton

Butler stars as One Two, a street-smart mobster who has learned to play both sides of the fence, and Wilkinson is playing the lethal head mobster, Lenny Cole, part of London's old mob regime, which is quickly losing ground to the wealthier foreign mob.

When a Russian mobster orchestrates a crooked land deal, millions of dollars are up for grabs, and all of London's criminal underworld wants in on the action. Everyone from a dangerous crime lord to a sexy accountant, a corrupt politician and down-on-their-luck petty thieves conspire, collude and collide with one another in an effort to get rich quick

Newton acts as One Two's love interest, Stella, an accountant with ties to the underworld, and Elba acts as Mumbles, One Two's partner. Bridges is playing Roman, an American trying to break into the music scene in London



I used to be a huge fan of Guy Ritchie. I loved 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and I thought 'Snatch' was one of the coolest films ever made. But since 'Snatch' he has made nothing but crap. I am excited for Sherlock Holmes because it is different than anything else that he has done. You wont find me at the movies on this one. I'll wait until Blu-ray.

 

HAPPY-GO-LUCKY

Cast: Sally Hawkins, Alexis Zegerman, Andrea Riseborough

Poppy (Sally Hawkins) is an irrepressibly cheerful primary school teacher who won't let anyone or anything get her down. Even when her bicycle, which she so happily rides through the busy streets of London is stolen, her first thought is only: "I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye."

Living with her flatmate Zoe (Alexis Zegerman), Poppy has a gift for making the most of life. Determined to learn to drive, she finds herself matched with Scott (Eddie Marsan), an uptight driving instructor who is everything she is not.



This movie doesn't look to bad. It is one of those feel good happy-go-lucky movies. I'm not going to rush out to the theaters and see it, but it is one that I will for sure rent.

 

THE EXPRESS

Cast: Dennis Quaid, Rob Brown, Clancy Brown

Based on a true story, The Express follows the extraordinary life of college football hero Ernie Davis (Rob Brown), the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. His fight for equality and respect forever changed the face of American sports, and his story continues to inspire new generations.

Raised in poverty in Pennsylvania coal-mining country, Davis hurdled social and economic obstacles to become one of the greatest running backs in college football history. Under the guidance of legendary Syracuse coach Ben Schwartzwalder (Dennis Quaid), he became a hero who superseded Jim Brown's achievements and set records that stand to this day.

Decorated veteran Schwartzwalder was a Southerner with a single vision of a national championship and hardened ideas about how the world worked. But though he and Davis clashed mightily, he taught the player everything he knew about football, just as Davis helped him learn the true meaning of victory.

As the growing civil rights movement divided the country in the '60s, Davis became a symbol for achievement that transcended race. Refusing to flinch from others' prejudices, he achieved all his goals—until he faced a challenge that would make most men crumble. He joined the ranks of black pioneers by teaching a generation tolerance, inspiring a movement that smashed barriers on and off the field.



If you are a totally sports fan then this is the movie for you. I really want to see this movie. It actually looks liek it was done very well. Who doesn't like inspiring sports films? I'm going to try and jump on board The Express this next week, but we'll see what happens.

 

CITY OF EMBER

Cast: Saoirse Ronan, Harry Treadaway, Bill Murray

For generations, the people of the City of Ember have flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights. But Ember's once powerful generator is failing ... and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, two teenagers in a race against time, must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city's existence, and help the citizens escape before the lights go out forever.



Here is a movie that has the potential to be a very fun movie but I am not 100% sold on the hype. I will most likely end up taking my kids to see it on Saturday morning though. So If you got kids and are looking to take them to a movie this weekend then this is the one you need to take them to. 

 

ASHES OF TIME REDUX

Cast: Jacky Cheung, Leslie Cheung, Maggie Cheung

The trailer for Ashes of Time Redux. The film is inspired by Louis Cha's novel The Eagle-Shooting Heroes. It centers on a man named Ouyang Feng (Leslie Cheung). Since the woman he loved rejected him, he has lived in the western desert, hiring skilled swordsmen to carry out contract killings. His wounded heart has made him pitiless and cynical, but his encounters with friends, clients and future enemies make him conscious of this solitude.



This movie looks like it could go either way. It could end up being pretty awesome or medicore. I don't think it will be a terrible film. This is obviously getting a limited release so DVD it is.

 

BREAKFAST WITH SCOT

Cast: Tom Cavanaugh, Ben Shenkman, Noah Bernett

Eric (Tom Cavanagh) lives for all things hockey. Now in his thirties, he’s managed to turn his stint as an ex- Toronto Maple Leaf into a full-time gig as commentator for sports TV. He’s living the dream! He and his partner Sam (Ben Shenkman), a lawyer, live discreetly on a tree-lined street in Toronto.

All their tranquility is disrupted when they receive news that Sam's brother Billy’s ex-girlfriend has died, leaving custody of her son Scot (Noah Bernett) to Billy. But adventure-seeking Billy is somewhere in South America, and that leaves Scot without a guardian. Much to Eric’s disapproval, Sam agrees to take Scot in. Enter Scot, budding queen of an 11 year old, who is Eric’s mirror opposite. Dressed in vibrant colors, his mother’s charm bracelet and with a penchant for musicals and Christmas carols, he’s not quite the ‘boy’ they expected.

Their household is thrown into confusion as Eric and Sam try to deal with the realities and expectations of their flamboyant charge and realize that he is much more ‘gay’ than they are. Each deals with his own issues while observing the behavior of a kid being joyously and unashamedly himself.



I have no interest in seeing this movie at all. It just doesn't look good.
